Speech-to-text for LO Writer

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent speech-to-text add-in for LibreOffice Writer?
I am a home user, so I do not want anything too expensive.
On the other hand, I do not want a free version that might contain marketing spyware or worse.

Welcome to the Forums,
Personally I don't like speech to text and don't use anything, however, my fiancee uses Dragon Naturally Speaking, and we have found that, on average, it's accurate almost 100% of the time.
We tested it using Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, reading the book, and found, by the end of the book (don't recall how many words in all), there was only 50 mistakes.

Search the forum with speech (or dragon). There are 72 threads for speech alone.

Speech to text has absolutely nothing to do with OpenOffice. Install any program you want. It will convert microphone input to text and then you can copy the resulting text into any program you want.

Except that I tried Windows Ease of Access dictation, but, in LO, it gave me just a few garbage characters. It did not even work in NotePad.
Also, I was hoping for something that integrated into LO or OO, not a copy & paste solution. I am spoiled by my Android phone, which supports near perfect dictation results in
any app that uses a "keyboard" for entering fields or general typing. Google is good at voice recognition, but does not work locally on a Windows PC.
But I will check the other posts referenced in this thread.
Thank you, all, for your feedback.

The program should be able to dump its stream of characters to some text window from where it can be copied into any application you want. There is nothing that could be done in OpenOffice. You have to communicate with the vendor of that program. If it happens to be Microsoft, then you should be aware that they will do anything necessary to be as incompatible as possible with OpenOffice.

My memory (perhaps 20+ years ago) of an early version of Dragon, running on Windows, was that in theory it could also instruct MS Word to format Bold, Italic, etc and move the cursor for insertions. Certainly, if such close integration is needed with an editor, OpenOffice is not the application of choice.

Thanks, Rory.
I really do not need to invoke application-specific functions verbally. This is more a matter of speed and convenience than necessity. I would like basic typing, and perhaps a "new line" command.
If I need to use a cut and paste solution, I will do that, but I would prefer something universal. Perhaps hooked into a keyboard driver.
Early Dragons required a lot of training by a specific user. Hopefully, we are way beyond that now.
Regards,
David

The Dragon that my fiancee uses required very little training. Just a few words that she has difficulty pronouncing... maybe 10 out of the entire text of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
