Welcome beginner. What is your question or comment?
Please try to briefly and clearly tell us: What you want, What you tried, and What happened.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry to be so basic, I am typing a theater program
(example)
Mary Smith .........................................Cinderella

I type "Mary Smith" -- what next to move to right margin to type "Cinderella" ?

In the paragraph properties (either for a new style or as a direct formatting), go to the Tabs tab, check the Right entry in Type then check the dots entry for Fill character. In the text, type your name, hit the TAB key and type the character.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

Doesn't seem to work for me (Have OO.org 2.4). Any other suggestions.

1) File > New > Text Document
2) Type: Mary Smith<Tab>Cinderella (no Enter yet)
The <Tab> means press the "Tab" key once; don't worry about the spacing yet.

3) On the ruler above the document editing area, click the small L-shaped symbol at the very left. It will change to a reverse "L".
4) On the ruler area (white with ruler markings), click somewhere near the middle.
This will set a tab position where you click. You should see everything you typed after the tab character move over to where you clicked on the ruler.

5) Click on the ruler, on the tab stop you just created (the little reverse "L" marker), and drag it over toward the right. Make sure you click and drag exactly on the marker. If you miss, Writer will create a new tab stop and you will see two markers.

Wherever you drag the tab stop marker, when you release the mouse button, your text will move to align with the tab stop. Place the tab stop wherever you want your text to align.

6) Format > Paragraph > Tabs > Fill character: (dots), OK

7) When you type Enter at the end of the first paragraph, a new paragraph is started with all the same settings as the previous paragraph, including the tabs. So if you type Jimmy Johnson<Tab>Prince Charming, the spacing and leading will match the first entry.
