Template styles 'do not match'

Under New/TemplateAndDocs/Templates, select a template,click Edit, get 'The styles.. do not match your current styles. Should your current styles be applied...'
Puzzling; If I just opened a template, does it not set my 'current styles'? How can they 'not match'?

Possibly, your template is based on another template.

What does that mean? When editing the template, I see no field 'Based on:...'
I am sending the template for you to examine.

I do not get the error when trying to edit this.

I tried to create the error by doing this but cannot either. A 'child' template doesn't seem to care if its parent template's styles were modified. Only a child document of a template gives me this error, when the parent template's styles were changed since last save...

Actually, it looks like the template is based on itself. Here is it's template link:
<meta:template ... xlink:href="../Examen.ott" .../>

A "normal" link for a document created from one of my templates looks like this:
<meta:template ... xlink:href="../../.openoffice.org/3/user/template/MyTestTemplate.ott" .../>

If I start a new document from "MyTestTemplate", then save that using File > Templates > Save, giving it a new name, then the new "child" template has a template link like yours. If I try to edit the child template (File > Templates > Edit), then I get the message as you described.

Do you remember how you created this template?

The template link will be removed if you answer "No" to the update prompt. You should not see the prompt again.

I downloaded the template, and opened it immediately, got an untitled doc without error. OK. This may be what you did.
Then, I downloaded again the template, saved it as Tst.ott, clicked File/Templates/Edit, got Tst.ott (not Untitled.odt) with the do-not-match message.
Why? What are my 'current styles' when I open a template for editing?

This is what I expect. But the error reported above is not for a child document.

I cannot reproduce this. Could you make your steps a little clearer? :?

acknak has found the critical clue in the odt file about this situation. Are saying that you downloaded this file yourself?

From the Forum, click Examen.ott (to download it)
dialog window offers to open or save file
choose save
save file in template folder as TestOL.ott
In Writer, click File>Templates>Edit
Choose TestOL.ott
Message window opens:
OpenOffice.org 3.0
'The styles in this document do not match your current styles...'

Not sure what you mean. I repeated the above steps (instead of using the file I originally uploaded) to ensure we are using the same data.
