[Solved] How to delete recovery failed file

Postby JamesEJ » Wed Sep 05, 2018 6:30 pm

Hey, guys. When I reboot my Win7 and windows reopens, and then start the Oo files recovery, there are 3 files that always appears but they say "recovery failed". I would like to get rid of them.
Anybody know how?

Select to Cancel the recovery. That should remove the annoyance.

RoryOF: tried that method 4 times. Doesn't seem to work. Any special way of doing it? I just click the Cancel button. Jim

Enable viewing of hidden files and delete any ~.lock files in the Save directory, also any such file in the OO User profile.

View hidden files? Show hidden files - Windows Help
User profile? See this post for a reminder how to find it.
Save directory? Where you save your files; the default setting can be viewed. in Tools | Options | OpenOffice | Paths

I get two (2) "user" folders. Any significance?

You have probably done this before, as you have asked the question about the profile before. Most likely one directory is named user, and the other some variation of userxxx which you created last time you reset your profile.

Depends; if you are taking RoryOF's advice then you need to be able to look in the user profile.

Guy, communication in this world we live in is its biggest problem to correct. History teaches us wars begin with a lack of communication. We solved our
miscommunication problem together in peace, so no need to pursue any other solution, my friend. My best wishes to your for a happy life of enjoyment. Jim

SOLVED Re: How to delete recovery failed file

Postby JamesEJ » Sun Sep 16, 2018 1:24 pm

Success finally. Had to try something. RoryOf's suggestion to click cancel when the files appeared, when done in a certain way, provided the cure. The first few times I tried the cancel remedy, there were also good files in the bunch. Like 2 good files and 3 bad files. So just to try something a bit different, I closed all the good files, rebooted, then did the cancel on solely the offending files. First try, successful. That was the trick for me this time. Hope this helps some future sole having the same problem. Marked solved. Thanks again RoryOf !!! Jim
