Hi,
I need to be able to type in Marathi (Devnagari script) in OpenOfficeWriter. For this, I activated the microsoft windows Marathi language pack and now it allows me to type in Marathi in Writer. However, the layout of the default Marathi keyboard in Windows is really complicated which makes it kind of impossible to use for the common man.
To change the layout to a phonetic layout (normally found almost everywhere in transliteration websites) , I downloaded and installed a utility called "Bhasha India Marathi language tool", which is apparently some project created by Govt of India with MS. With this utility, the Marathi keyboard layout is changed to a far more convinient, phonetic one. This layout works great in microsoft office products and browsers, but it is not working in OpenOfficeWriter. Writer is still following the default Marathi keyboard layout.
Please inform me if this Bhasha India utility is compatible with OpenOffice or not. If not, what ways are there in which I can change the layout of Marathi typing keyboard for OpenOffice?
Thank you.

You would be best to ask the utility authors.PPH wrote:Please inform me if this Bhasha India utility is compatible with OpenOffice or not.
I do not know. Try searching the forum with Marathi or Devnagari. It seems that you need to reassign the keys to different characters. Search Writer Help with language and see Asian typography etc. Search Writer Help with keyboard. See Tools > Options > Language Settings > Languages etc.PPH wrote:If not, what ways are there in which I can change the layout of Marathi typing keyboard for OpenOffice?

Have you tried using the phonetic keyboard in another application, perhaps Notepad?
Does the default Marathi keyboard work in AOO or any other application?
