[Solved] Inserting a 'hard return' in a text box

Post by dansawyer »

Calc documentation reports inserting a ctrl-return in text will cause a carriage return/line feed, or the effect of starting a new line in a text box. This is useful to format text in a box. OO version is 2.4, OS is FC9 Linux.

Does anyone have any pointers on how to provide this function? Thanks - Dan

Hi and welcome to the forums.

If you double-click in a cell so that you are typing or editing in the cell itself (instead of in the input line at the the top of the screen) then Ctrl-Enter starts a new line in the cell.

Please add [Solved] to the the start of the title of your first post (use the edit button) if your question has been answered.

Hi,
I tried doing a hard return by "getting into the cell" using F2. I could make edits but the hard return did not work. However, when I double clicked to "get into the cell" it worked!
