Paste from Writer to Calc - format changes

Post by David12846 »

I don't know if this a Writer issue or a Calc issue.
I have a whole column in OO Writer that is formatted as TEXT.
I have a whole column in OO Calc that is formatted as TEXT.
When I copy the column from Writer to Calc, the format somehow gets changed to NUMBER-GENERAL in Calc. I want the data to stay as TEXT.

The TEXT data I have looks like this in OO Writer:
89.3.20
07.4.19
NONE
89.3.34
90.30.202

After copying to Calc the data is changing to:
03/20/89
07/04/19
NONE
90.30.202

The values represent item numbers for cataloging purposes in a Museum.

Use Paste Special (Shift+Ctrl+V) and select Unformatted text. In the Text Import window, select the column containing your data and select Text as the Column type. Then the data will remain unaltered.
