[Solved] Will Microsoft Powerpoint open Impress presentation

Post by Sue »

Hi all

I have just done a presentation in open office 2.4 impress in Windows for an interview, not realising that it wasn't a Microsoft package oops! (not using my computer you see) will it open up using Microsoft Power Point?

Regards

Microsoft never supported any complex document format that is not their own property. They could support Open Document Format (ODF) since it's open and free to use for anyone, but they avoid any step that may help spreading ODF.
That said, OpenOffice.org can save your presentation in Microsoft's powerpoint format (.ppt). You can install a plugin for Microsoft Office by Sun Microsystems, which enables MSOffice to open ODF documents: http://www.sun.com/software/star/odf_plugin/index.jsp
http://www.zamzar.com/ is an online converter. I believe it can convert ODF presentations to powerpoint.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

In case this helps anyone else, some one told me that when you save the impress presentation, when you do save as you have the option of saving as ppt format.
I did that, tested it someone`s Windows PC that has power point presentation and it worked.
