[Solved] Printing large poster in sections
[Solved] Printing large poster in sections
I think I saw something on this somewhere, but can't find it now. I have a basic home printer, and want to produce a large poster. Is there an "automatic" way to have Oo segment the poster and print multiple pages that can then be mosaic-ed to form the large poster?

Try, on the /File /Print window, selecting the OpenOffice Draw tab and checking "Distribute on multiple sheets of Paper" or "Tile sheet of paper with repeated pages". I'm not sure which one of these will do it, but one will.

Re: Printing large poster in sections
As RoryOF pointed out, Draw has the option to split the printout over several sheets of paper, but I think you'll find that it's not a good result for more than a few sheets.
Some (many? most?) major-name office supply stores around here have printing services. The ones I've tried were very reasonable for poster-size printouts. That's the way I'd go if you have one close by.

If using acknak's option, you may need to bring the poster in PDF format.

Thanks to all for incredibly quick responses. I'll try them in ascending order of complexity and post my results.

In a personal message (PM), andyluke says
Thanks for your help! The "distribute ..." option fits the bill perfectly. I had been searching thinking of the process as tiling, but it turns out that tiling is printing multiple pages on one sheet.
