Data Execution Prevention DEP Shutdown

Post by hitchup »

While installing 2.3.1 under Vista I received a Data Execution Prevention shutdown of the Windows Installer.

Need help to correct.

The same thing happened to me. I just launched the installer again and it worked fine.

Relaunching the installer didn't solve the problem for me. I am reluctant to disable DEP. Does anyone know whether that is advisable or not? Thanks.

When I tried to turn DEP off becuase it was killing HP Digital Imaging Monitor it can only be turned off for a specific program that you trust - OO is probably one of them. This is according to Windows Help, it didn't even mention turning it off completely probably since its a major security risk and you might not turn it back on. If you know the specific executable that needs permission then go for it, I would never be able to figure it out. You can access DEP settings from system prperties<performance settings<data execution prevention

I solved this problem by disabling the OOo extensions I had installed. After installing 2.3.1, I just enabled the extensions and I am back in business.

Thanks to all!

I installed without problem by opening the folder Openoffice.org 2.3 Installation Files, selecting the setup Application, Right Clicking and Selecting Run as Administrator.

I had no extensions to disable so, that wasn't a solution for me.
