Hi
I'm working with OOO 2.4 (windows) and I'm having some issues with the captioning.
When I insert an object (in this case OOO treats it as a picture) I then caption the picture. However, if the caption text is longer than the width of the inserted image the text becomes broken across two lines. This is because the width of the caption text frame is linked to the size of inserted object. I can stretch the frame to make it wide enough so that all of the caption is on the same line, but this also resizes the image.
Is there anyway that I can change the behaviour, so that I can have a caption text that is longer than the width of the inserted object?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Re: Altering the width of a caption
- Double-click the picture and go to the Type tab.
- Uncheck the Relative option top left. But there is a small bug, both sizes (width & height) are set to the same value, so click the Original size button and then click twice the Relative option again.
I hope you don't have too many pics to caption because you've to do that for each one, updating the Graphics frame style doesn't seem to improve anything. If you've a lot of pics, you may be interested by the AutoText feature instead of the caption. Then, use a table with a caption, tables won't have that side effect on pics. See here: [Solved] Custom captions with mixed text formatting.
