[Solved] Can't open the OOo site in search listings

Post by godsredeemer »

Can someone please tell me why I get this message?
========================

====================================
I went to the OO site and downloaded the latest version
Installed it
Did other work as well along the way
Opened OO and discovered there was no "clipart" available
Opened IE8
Searched for "open office" in goodle
Clicked on the OO link in the search results to check out clip art
And got the error
I got the same error on every OO link I clicked on in the listings except the "support" link

I have no problem getting to other sites.
Can anyone tell me what's goin' on?
Thanks

The http://www.openoffice.org%20site is being restructured all this week. It is said to be set "read-only" for the duration; it would not be unexpected that it might be partially inaccessible during the restructuring process. Try again later.

It appears, to me, that the openoffice.org site was hacked. The pink banner is so poorly written as to be suspect "You visit the...". Really? Sounds like some Nigerian money scam. I received an email with a 40 character "new" password for the site that was also so grammatically incorrect as to be illiterate.

Are these changes valid, or has someone hacked the site. If legitimate, whoever is in charge of openoffice.org might want to look into hiring someone who can actually write in English. I don't go to sites that look that suspicious.

Have you followed the "more" link?

If you suspect a scam e mail, can you give its content here (remove the password)?

I have followed the more link. It leads to a page that explains the move. Nothing sinister.

I believe OOo's core programmers are a) multinational and b) located in Germany. It may be the message was written by a non-native speaker of English. It does read like Nigerian spam.

I also received the mail and there is no problem at all (and I logged in correctly with the new password, that has been changed since, don't even try...):
