Number Font reset to TimesNewRoman when toggle Numbering On

Post by cerebellum »

Greetings,

I'm working on a document with font other than Times New Roman, say.. Arial size 10..
Halfway the document, I'm inserting a numbering (toggle the numbering on) and the font of the number changed to Times New Roman 12. I have to manually select them and reset the style to Arial size 10.

I tried to Google it (as always), but it seems that no one have had this problem.

Please advice. Thanks.

Generally, if you change the font for an entire paragraph, the numbering will automatically pick up the font from the paragraph. So, I'm not sure what might be preventing that from happening.

Maybe you could describe exactly how you changed the font for the numbered paragraphs? Or, even better, attach a small sample from your document that shows the problem. You can use the "Upload Attachment" link (below the message entry area after you click "POST REPLY"). [Forum] How to attach a document here

Okay.. after I've read your post, I tried three conditions that produced different results.
1. cursor is somewhere in the paragraph, font numbering reset to Times New Roman size 12
2. cursor is selecting several (but not all) words in the paragraph, first and last font numbering (the two not fully selected) reset to Times New Roman size 12
3. cursor is selecting all words to be numbered, font numbering is consistent

All conditions in screenshot attached.
Please advice.
Thanks.

Ok, I think I see what you mean.

So you can just apply the numbering when you have the entire paragraph selected (your top example), no?

The best way to handle this is to either: a) change the document's default font (Tools > Options > OOo Writer > Basic Fonts, or b) use paragraph styles and change the font set in the style.

When you apply a font change as direct formatting, by selecting parts of the document and changing the font on the toolbar, Writer (apparently) has trouble deciding what font should apply to the numbering.

b) use paragraph styles and change the font set in the style.
Yes. And/or apply/modify the list style accordingly. Especially, when you need the list numbering font be different from the paragraph font.
