How to modify Default Table format?

Post by Murph »

Hello all.

Is there a way I can modify the default table format in Writer? Whenever I insert a new table using the Table > Insert > Table it is in the blackline format. I would like to change this so the table is in our own custom format without having to use the Autoformat option every time.

Thanks,

Neil

Hi and welcome to the forum!

No way that I know. But you can use AutoText for that. See for example [Solved] Custom captions with mixed text formatting.

LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 25.2 portable on Windows 11.

Hagar:

thanks for the reply. To clarify my earlier message, it is not the text formatting I am trying to change, it is the style of the table itself e.g. border visbility and colours. The Autotext function only seems to change the text. What I was after was being able to select one of the formats in Table > Autoformat... as the default for all new tables inserted.

It's not a big issue.

Yes, I know. Have you tried? An AutoText is a kind of paste from a registered document and you can put inside quite whatever you want, including a pre-formatted table.
