My reception computer is running openSUSE and I would love to connect to my windoz XP (MySQL) server. All other windoz machines connect great - everything is wonderful. On the windowz machine the port 3306 is open. The SUSE computer sees the network and the computer where MySQL is installed. I have MySQL Network Administrator open on the SUSE machine. The SUSE computer is unable to connect to the MySql machine. Is there any settings or additional installation I have to make in order to connect from Linux to Wondoz ? For BASE setup I installed the the apropiate connector in the SUSE machine. That would come later one I am able to use MySQL Network Administrator.
Any help would be appreciatet.
AS USUAL,
Kind regards,
HANS

Re: MySQL - openSUSE
The only thing that comes to mind is that you need to tell MySQL to accept connections from your Suse machine, by which I mean the IP address of the machine.
But if you can connect to it using MySQL Administrator then that is done, if not then I would bet that is the problem.
You will find detailed explanation for doing this in the documentation at the MySQL web site.
