Missing menu on Win 98SE

Post by mecottrell »

I have installed open office 2.3.1 on my memory stick via portableapps.com and find that when i run it on a Win 98SE machine (500MHz 128Meg PIII) it runs fine excet there is no text menu items above the 'button' tool bars on any of the applications. Also when I try to custiomise tool bar and hit tab menus the computer freezes. I have tried this on two Win 98 machines with same result, howerver when I try the memory stick on a win XP machine it works fine. This is a shame as it rather spoils the portability of the applications; I cannot see any reference to this issue on the forum discussions, please can anyone help, thanks.

I have a Win 98 machine that runs OOo2.3.1 without that issue. Must have something to do with the fact it's on a stick. Perhaps Alt+F will raise the File menu which I presume is one of your missing items.

No suggestions for a fix, but thanks for reminding me to post this: OOo 2.4 will likely be the last for Win98/ME.

Its being on a stick should have no effect on menu availability. I'd suggest re-downloading it.
Cheers!
