Hi and welcome to the forum!

What is your OS? you've given the name of your machine in your signature. I suppose you're running Windows. You can drag and drop the one created in your Startup>Programs>OpenOffice.org menu.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 25.2 portable on Windows 11.

Hi artzart !
Hagar De I'Est has given one solution.
In windows operating systems you can create short cut by just right click the program in All program menu.
And there will be one option create short cut or send to desktop.
By selecting one of them you can create the short cut of your program.

Hello, Hagar! Now how can I do this (set up a direct shortcut to the word processor or the other apps) with OpenOffice 4 and Windows 8?

I figured it out. I searched the C drive for "writer" (type=program) and then was able to create a shortcut in the traditional way from the program file that was found at
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\OpenOffice 4.0.1
