Hi,
I've drawn a shape using the Line tool and would now like to fill this area in white (please see attached file). How do I do this?

Re: Fill an area?
What you have is a set of lines. What you need, in order to fill the inside area, is a closed polygon.
Here's the simple approach:
1) Select the six lines in your shape.
2) Modify > Connect
This gives you a closed curve, which can then be filled as you like.
Note: The "Connect" function always adds an extra point for each junction. Normally, the extra point is so close that it's not visible, so it doesn't hurt anything.

Re: Fill an area?
Thanks for the reply.
I've just tried this and have connected all the points but I can't seem to find a way of filling the shape white?
I've attached the new file with the connected points.

Hmm, I'm not sure what the problem is. Are you sure you selected all the lines--there are six altogether.
It works for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2VJ1b3ZPws

Re: Fill an area?
Wow thanks for the detailed reply!
I just tried this but when I draw a box around the shape I've drawn it says :-
'2 draw objects selected' instead of '6 lines selected' .
Also I noticed that on your screen you have a palette of colours. My screen doesn't have this?

Re: Fill an area?
The color toolbar is not active in the standard Draw window. You can get it by View > Toolbars > Color Bar. Left-click on a color changes the area fill color for the selected object(s); right-click sets the line color. It doesn't provide any new features, just a slightly more convenient way to set the colors compared to the standard toolbar.
I'm working with the first document you attached above--you may need to download a fresh copy for it to work like the video. Maybe the document on your system has had some changes made since you uploaded it.
If it's still giving you trouble, you may want to just draw a new object--as a polygon from the start. You can do that with the polygon tool from the "Curve" palette next to the "T" (Text) button. Click on the "Curve" button and select "Polygon, Filled" from the pop-up menu/palette. Click+drag the first segment; click once for each remaining vertex. After the last point, double-click to close the polygon.

Re: [Solved] Fill an area?
I couldn't get this to work until I selected the Connected polygon and chose "Close Object" from the right-click menu.
Hope this helps the people who haven't found it yet.
