Protection

Post by dashrender »

Hello,
I have an issue when I open up xls files in OO Calc. The protection that I put in place in Excel is no longer there. Also, when I try to add protection to a xls document, it does not work.

I also tried creating a calc file in the normal format (ods, I think) and again, the protection does nothing. I have setup a password on it when I choose protection. But nothing changes, and I can make all of the document changes I want.

I am running OO 2.3 on Vista.

Thanks.

I don't have an answer for the Ecel document not retaining it's protection when opened in Calc, but... regarding Calc and the way protection works there...

From the Help:
-----
OpenOffice.org provides several options to protect the data in a spreadsheet.
You can protect the cell contents and formats from changes.
You can protect the spreadsheet structure from changes, for example the count, names, and order of the sheets.

Did you follow the steps outlined in the help when you tried to protect your spreadsheet?
openSUSE 11.4, KDE4.6 with OpenOffice.org 3.3
