I have a situation where I need to insert a page break within the sentence of the last line on a page in order to allow the next page to contain only photographs. This of course is no problem, except that I am using full justification which means that the final line on the page is not fully justified. In other words, there can be considerable space after the last word on the page(obviously because there is a page break after it). Is there a way I can avoid that happening? I considered simply adding spaces between words in the last line to get it to look fully justified, but I thought someone might have a more elegant strategy. Of course I would like to avoid hyphenating the final word on the page.
I hope that my explanation is not too confusing.
TIA
Justification problem when page break in mid sentence
Re: Justification problem when page break in mid sentence
If i understand you correctly this should be quite simply. Go to the style pane, right click the style your text is in and click "edit". Now, go to allignment and set the setting for the last line to "justified". Mind you, this will likely look ugly. What's wrong with not having the final line justified?

Re: Justification problem when page break in mid sentence
I'm not sure it will help here, but I think in newer versions of OpenOffice there is a setting something like Justify last line of paragraph under Tools > Options... > Writer > Compatibility
Re: Justification problem when page break in mid sentence
Another way is to hyphenate that paragraph manually and do it so that the last line fills out better. Ignore this hint if you already thought of it yourself.

Re: Justification problem when page break in mid sentence
What a wonderful outpouring of willingness to help with my problem. Thank you Caracalla, huw and Floris v. Each of you helped in your own way. After reading the suggestions, it occurred to me that if I created a new style based on the one in use except that it had "Justify last line", I could apply that style to only those paragraphs that needed it. I previously had not noticed that "Justify last line" was even a possibility. It works.
For those of you interested in such things, the project in question is a friend's book. I believe he is 88 years old now, living in New Brunswick, Canada, and has written a book about his wartime experiences as a radar technician in India during WWII. He took many photographs, kept records of things that I probably would have tossed out, found that his mother had saved every letter he had sent her from India, etc. I have been helping with scanning, formatting(I used to teach Microsoft Word!) and such things--anything to support him in completing this important project. His book is impressive, as is he.
Thanks again, folks.
