Hello Support Folk,
I have been trying everything possible via help & this forum to activate - eg get the "spellchecker" in Writer to work. I am using a new Vista & Writer 2.3. Do I need to download a dictionary or an update (fix kit or something)? If so where do I go for that? I am new to OpenOffice. Pretty desperate to get up & running!
Much appreciated.
Shelley
I have manged to get the spell checker to work with the instructions -- I did download the Cdn dictionary however it does not seem to work so I will use the English UK version.
Thank you for your support.
Shelley

Re: Spell Checker / OpenOffice Writer 2.3 & Vista
You should not need to download a dictionary unless you're using a language other than US or UK English. The most common problem with spell-check not working is because no language is defined for the current paragraph file. Right-click, edit paragraph style, and look on the Font tab to see which language is set. If it is [none] then the text won't be checked. Change it to English US or UK and it should work.

Have a look at that thread : [Tutorial] Spell check and Language configuration.
