Documents go to different monitors

When I open two documents, the first one goes to the monitor on which I last opened it. Then the second document goes to my second monitor, even though I did not open it there last. I want both documents to open on my second monitor and not one on each. Thanks for any help. Google has not been helpful.

Try pulling your second document back to the desired monitor. Close it there, then reopen it.

Tried, doesn't work. I drag the one over, but when I close both then reopen, the first one goes to the right monitor then the second one goes to the other monitor.

On my linux system the second file opens on the same monitor, after I dragged a file there, on top of the first file.
