[Solved] Enter key doesn't do calculation

Post by Max1950 »

SOLVED

When I enter a calculation like =sum(a3:d3) and then hit Enter, instead of doing the calulation the cursor movess down to include the cell below.
If I click the pointer in the calculate box, the the enter key works ok
Even inputting =a3+b3 and hitting Enter, the cursor moves own to include the cell below. Again, clickin the calculate box makes it work ok.
I've rebooted, checked for updates, an gone to Tools Customize to see if something's miss b ut can't find anything.

Lenovo thinkpad, Windows 11.

Re: Enter key misfunctioning in calc

I'm not aware of any settings that lead to the behavior you describe. There are a couple of options for changing the behavior of the Enter key under Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice Calc -> General, but they don't have the effect you describe. You could try changing those to see if they affect what you see.
You could also reset your user profile. A corrupted profile can lead to strange behavior. To do that,
Shutdown OpenOffice
Open any folder and enter %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the address bar
Rename the user folder to user_old
Restart OpenOffice and you should get the registration screen.
OpenOffice 4.1 on Windows 10 and Linux Mint
If your question is answered, please go to your first post, select the Edit button, and add [Solved] to the beginning of the title.

Thanks. It was a corrupted profile.
