[Solved] Text all to one side

Post by markwrites »

I made a jpg image of a pdf editable and copied the text to writer but it is all at one side. is there anyway to fix this except going through it and back spacing?

If you turn on /View /non-printing characters, you will see that each short line is terminated with a backwards P (recte: a Pilcrow). if you delete a Pilcrow, you can replace it with a space; the lines will then align according to the paragraph alignment selected.

A quick way to do this is to use Find and Replace. In Find box enter \n. In Replace box enter \n (has a different meaning in the Replace box).

Correction: in Replace box enter a space. Sorry about the error - was distracted by call on my mobile when writing the above.

Drop "More Options" in Find and Replace, select "Regular expressions" from the dropdown, then press Replace All.

Until you know what you are doing, best to work on a copy file.

Pasting from a PDF often gives such result.
You can try that macro: Convert ASCII text files by deleting extra paragraph breaks.
It has been a long time since I've last used it. It may need some adjustments.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the 🖉 button if your issue has been fixed.

For best advice it is helpful to have a small (one/two page) sample file uploaded, rather than a screenshot.

How do I blur the content of sample file?

You can't but you can anonymise it, see How to attach a document here.
