Searching with Find Toolbar causes crash

Post by losman »

The "Find" function is not stable. For example, I wanted to search (find) a simple word such as "Ceramic" in my spreadsheet and it just kicks you out.

I am using OpenOffice 4.1.14 on Windows 11.

This is a very important function for the type of work I do.

Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I have split your post from the topic you posted in and moved it from the Writer forum to the Calc one.
Your question is very different since it applies to spreadsheets.

What do you mean by being "kicked out"? No result? Application crash? How do you search your string? With Ctrl+F or Ctrl+H? There are different options in the latter.

For example, I wanted to search (find) a simple word such as "Ceramic" in my spreadsheet and it just kicks you out.
There is an option for the searching function:

"Entire cells"
When this option is checked on, the F&R function will found the cells only where there is not anything else but the searched word only.

On the upper row of symbols there is a function called "Find". It is there where one can enter words that one needs to find. It allows it to enter the word but as soon as it begins to search the program crashes. It window appears reading "Due to an unexpected error, OpenOffice crashed". Then, one must go to a subsequent window and do a "document recovery".
