[Issue] OpenOffice Writer - open documents in tabs

When I refer to tabs here I don't mean tabs in page formatting. Sorry if this has been asked before but every search just brings up page formatting!

I would like to open documents side by side in tabs and switch between them easily, like I can with browser tabs in chrome etc.

Is that possible?

I am on a mac.

In my opinion: It is not possible (at least on Windows).

The window handler method of the LO and the other softwares are different. The LO applications will run many instances when you open more than one document.

There is a long discussion for LibreOffice: Bug 37134 - Tabbed UI: Document-per-tab (similar to Firefox, Opera, gedit) MDI.
There is a link to the AOO bug as well but if it goes nowhere with LO, I doubt it would be better with AOO.

menu:Window>New Window shows the same document in a separate window.

thanks - sounds like it is not viable. Would be useful if ever possible.
