[Solved] Linked Table of Contents in OpenOffice

Post by michaelblucher »

Hi
This has probably come up a million times.
I'm trying to set up a table of contents that links to the relevant page so I can click on the page number.
I've been trying this for hours now and getting nowhere.
Regards
Michael B.

When setting up the Table of contents, place cursor in a space before the desired hyperink element on the Entries tab, usually the very start of a ToC line, and press the Hyperlink button. Then proceed to the space after the desired hyperlink element, usually after the last entry on the Entries tab, and press the Hyperlink button once again.

Then to go to that area of the text Ctrl Click on the ToC entry.

The attached screenshot shows the LS and LE entries the Hyperlink button inserts.

As an add-on to Rory's explanation: LS means Link Start, LE means Link End, E# means heading numbering, E means heading, T means Tab, # means page number. If you don't want to include the page number in the hyperlink, you can put the LE in the box before the tab that will force the page number to the end of the line.

I ended up deleting the TOC. Removing any index entries in the document.
Re-entered the TOC and it decided to work.
