Forum server performance improvement

A plan is developing on the dev mailing list to improve the forum performance by switching to a "FPM-backed PHP server", whatever that means. Here is a thread with the discussion. This is currently scheduled for 16:00 UTC on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Ideally, the change will happen so quickly it will not be noticed. Dave Fisher asked that we announce one hour of possible downtime.
