Accidentally replaced old file with new file

Since I accidentally replaced an old folder with a new one, how can I restore my previous folders? Help!!
OSX Yosemite 10.10.1, Open Office Version 4.0.1

If you just did this in Finder, use Edit → Undo. Otherwise restore the folder from a backup, for example one made with Time Machine. If you have no backup, the files are lost.

This is an OpenOffice forum, but you don't have a problem with the using OpenOffice software. You might receive more specific help with recovering files or folders in an Apple forum. A web search should find one.
