[Solved] LibreOffice crash, module ucrtbase.dll

Post by Leiif010 »

I am not sure where to post this since it is Libre Office that is having the issue. It was suggested in this forum in the Calc section that I should upgrade to Libre Office. See linked screen recording. Too big to attach but it's only 3.69MB and only 1 min long. You can pause to read the error codes.

Please upload the specific version of your document, what causes the crash. All of attached spreadsheet document versions work for me on various LO versions.

I don't use LibreOffice, preferring to remain with OpenOffice which suits my needs, but I understand that one can start LibreOffice in Safe Mode, which is a help to diagnosis of crashes.

Does not matter what doc I try it won't stay open. Think it has something to do with ucrtbase.DLL . Would a previous version be better? This is 7.4.7

Try starting LibreOffice in Safe mode. As I understand it, often crashing is caused by internal LibreOffice choices. Have a look at
https://ask.libreoffice.org/c/english/5
for more specific information.

More than one 64 bit permanently installed LO versions, and lots of portable x32/x64 LO versions work and worked for me on Win7prof. x64 and on Win10prof x84 versions without such problem.

Permanently installed versions (one time one version only)
LO4.4.7
LO6.1.6
LO6.4.7
LO7.4.7
LO7.5.5

And there are these portable versions on my PC:

Thanks. Yes Windows strikes again. I have tried many things; re-register the dll; copy the dll to syswow folder, which I can't do because of the permissions mess; sfc /scannow. Tried for hours to fix the permissions. Well AOO works so will stick with it for now.

It looks like it is not really the ucrtbase.dll but the DllRegisterServer. May look at that later. Need to clean my .ods mess I have now. Made copies of everyones .ods sheets just in case.
