[Solved] Styles: Change Font Colour and Revert

Post by James Bejon »

Dear All—I’ve created a style that changes my font colour as desired, but it seems to affect whole paragraphs rather than just the re-styled text. Any way to stop that happening? James.

Your description suggests you have created a paragraph style, which affects the whole of any paragraphs to which it is applied.

If you want to affect only certain text you need a character style applied to that text.

You may find Working with Styles a useful resource.

By the way, is there a quick way of applying a style to some text—ideally a shortcut key that pastes a style over?

You can assign a keyboard shortcut to a style, but for a character style obviously you need to select the text to which the style is to be applied. Tools | Customise and select the Keyboard tab.

There's the format paintbrush on the standard toolbar - if you don't know about that.
