Can I assume this is Avast getting it wrong? It happens every time I open an AOO document.

Meanwhile the URL does not exist anymore.
http://aoo-pdf-import.apache-extras.org ... update.xml has nothing to do with aoo nor apache nor pdf nor github. It is a deception of users who can't read URLs.

Re: Avast Keeps Blocking A "Phishing" URL
What else am I supposed to think? Avast gets triggered when I start AOO, and pops up that message. I shouldn't have to know the inner workings of how AOO might go about looking for updates.
Is it infected? Is it an out-of-date action? What?

Do you have the PDF Import Extension for Apache OpenOffice installed? If so, go to Tools | Extension Manager, find the extension and see what version it is.

.Re: Avast Keeps Blocking A "Phishing" URL
I do. It's 0.1.0
I tried checking for updates, but that produces an error message "Error reading data from the Internet / Server error message" - is that Avast blocking the access?
I don't recall ever having actually used this extension (although it's the sort of thing I would have expected to use at some time), so I could easily remove it, but I would rather find out what's going on.

Re: Avast Keeps Blocking A "Phishing" URL
The current version is 0.1.1.
No. That's a bug in the old version of AOO you're using.
I can't tell you "what's going on". I can tell you that you have old versions of AOO and the PDF-Import extension which may have security issues. Fixing security issues is a main reason for keeping software updated. If I were having this problem, I'd completely remove the old versions and install the current versions .

Re: Avast Keeps Blocking A "Phishing" URL
The URL in the error message is the update link in old pdf-import extension (0.1.0). The update link was changed in the new pdf-import extension (0.1.1) released in 2021. Removing the old extension should stop the error message. If you think you might need the extension in the future, install the new version.
