[Solved] Document Could Not Be Locked message

Post by alanack »

Windows 10(x64), LibreOffice 7.4.5.1

I'm getting a Document Could Not Be Locked message when opening certain files, leaving me with just a read-only viewing option. I was recently experiencing some other problems, and reverted back to v. 7.4.5.1 from v. 7.5.1. The only files that don't open properly are those stored in My Documents - the files from the Desktop open normally. Also, if I cut a document from My Documents and paste it to the Desktop it also opens normally. Thanks for your help!

This is a permissions problem in the My Documents folder. You need to tell Windows that LibreOffice is permitted to read and write files there.

That was the problem, thanks! [I fixed this by going to Start Menu > LibreOffice > right click on Writer > More > Open file location]
