[Solved] Auto save not working or..
[Solved] Auto save not working or..
Hi Forum
I have created a calc template and in settings I have set it up to autosave used this guide..
https://smallbusiness.chron.com/change- ... 54860.html
Open a new calc, name it and save it, open it again and write something, I assumed that it would aut. save the text I write after 1 minute?
have I done something wrong, because it does not save it?

Re: auto save not working or..
You are mistaken if you think "AutoRecovery" Saves the file to disk. Its purpose is to permit (hopefully) recovery of a file if there is a computer or software crash.
To Save your file (once named) you should develop the habit of pressing Ctrl S, which will cause the file to Save to disk.
The Help file says

Re: auto save not working or..
Right. The linked article is misleading. Excel has "Auto Save" and "Save AutoRecover information". Writer has "Save AutoRecovery information" but no equivalent to "Auto Save". The article tells how to set "Save AutoRecovery information" in OpenOffice.

Tools > Options > Load/Save > Always create a backup copy ..., may be of help.

Re: Auto save not working or..
Could be... if enabled, when will it create backup?
By closing CALC or when you use it?

Re: Auto save not working or..
it seems to be all about recovery.
Maybe I should look at macro
Actually what I need is a makro that can click ctrl+s evry time there is a change in a cell in my CALC document.
Is that possible?
Maybe a new question for that

Re: Auto save not working or..
yes both are on and set to 1 minute.
backup is set to save in windows documents.
When I open my document and type a something there is generated a .ods file in documents with my typing.
And if i type more next minute it's updated with _1
Thanks... actually working okay.
Would prefer it to be the file I work in, because the users using it is not familiar with computers.
But fine...when I just have a backup
Now I have my original document in C and a copy in documents.
Could give a little confusion.
But i Think I know how to handle this..
