[Solved] OpenOffice issue on Chromebook (United Kingdom)

[solved] evening all,

im in the uk and have just downloaded Open Office 4.1.11 using linux. Now it is downloaded it will not let me open it with an error message saying "this file type is not supported"

please can anyone on here steer me in the right direction to solve this issue?
