Forgive me all... after spending a good few hours perusing various Open Office and Libre Office forums to get an answer (or directions to an answer) to my question, I failed miserably and decided to bite the bullet and publish this query.
I'm looking to Get Latest Price Quote for a openly traded stock market Stock. (The Yahoo Financial data link no longer works, and I found no other stock price sources data bases that are algorithmically accessible on the internet).
It should be a pretty straight forward function that I'm looking for (with admittedly & apparently a hard answer for Open/Libre Office to address). There are functions in both Google Sheets and Microsoft Office/Excel that get the latest stock price quote in a cell. That is: give the function a stock symbol and request the latest price (or other data). The relevant value is returned to populate the cell. [In Google Sheets, e.g., =GOOGLEFINANCE(<stock symbol>,"price"). In Office 365, e.g., place a stock symbol in a cell and select the STOCK menu item to complete the cell setup].
Thank you to anyone that can identify a built-in function, OR can point me to any tool I can somehow connect to from inside the spreadsheet.

How does Excel/Google guess which is the latest without any date-time values? And why do you have to do all this bullshit with LibreOffice if you have working solutions with Google and Microsoft?

As one rocket scientist to another (LOL), suppose the default Stock Price search criteria is "most recent". Right?. Anyway, why are you questioning WHY I want to do this. Not part of the issue. But suppose, just suppose, that 1) OpenOffice is free and 2) Microsoft requires monthly or yearly fees these days (one time purchases are over), and 3) Google is a major security/privacy risk in that Google Docs will not operate from files kept on, say, removable media (e.g. flash drive). I choose 1) if possible.

There is no way to analyse without data. I stop guessing and give up on this. Please use the tool that works for you. It might not be Libre/OpenOffice Calc.

Sorry, I was assuming that you download and import some kind of list from an abonement or something and that you don't know how to use database functions or lookups. The issue with spreadsheet tools scaping data from websites is that they break every time when the structure of the website changes. You should buy some software tool made for this.

A quick look in the extensions repository indicates that https://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/obba might work for your needs.
There is another extension at https://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/quicksma that might be better, but it's being reported as being incompatible with OpenOffice 4.x
