I am making a "stupid" mistake. I must have hit a hot-key and now the equation editor is a separate Command window. I can not figure out how to get it back to the old position at being at the bottom of the page ( I hate the floating )
Thanks in advance

Re: Disabling floating equation editor window
Drag the title bar of the floating Commands window down towards the bottom of the screen until an outline appears. When it does, release the drag and the window will dock. If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the title. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time.]ReinerEschbach wrote:I can not figure out how to get it back to the old position at being at the bottom of the page

Re: Disabeling floating equation editor window
MrProgrammer,
I tried that ( before I asked ) and even tried to drag-to-resize. No outline appears.
Dragging to the sides is a normal way of sticking floating windows, but I must have set something by accident . . .

Ctrl+Double-Click the narrow grey border between window title and input area.

Re: Disabeling floating equation editor window
Sorry,
double clicking ( or single ) with ctrl shift+ctrl ctrl+alt alt .. ...
All does not work.
Another oddity: the "x" in the top right of the floating window does not close it.
I have to click inside the document area ( outside the floating window ) to close it.

That might only hide it behind the main window.ReinerEschbach wrote: Another oddity: the "x" in the top right of the floating window does not close it.

Re: Disabeling floating equation editor window
Not being able to close the command window in the Math editor is not surprising IMHO since that's the window needed to enter the code.
If you don't get the outline, perhaps the actual lower border of the window is outside the screen. If you resize the main window so that you do see the lower border of the window, do you get the outline when you drag the command area near it?

Re: Disabling floating equation editor window
Ouch ouch !!
there is something about sizing that seems to make a difference on my machine.
All the described methods is what I had tried before that did not seem to work . . . so I tried them again in the hope that "same behavior" will give "different result".
And it did:
in one of the size relations, when moving across the document boundary, the outline MrProgrammer mentioned flashed ( appeared and disappeared ), so I dragged the window very slowly and let go in the right moment.
Now everything is fixed, thanks for all of you helping me in this.
Regards
