Calc stops responding, but it takes a while

Greetings!

I've read quite a few threads regarding various OO components experiencing a similar issue and have tried the fixes contained within those, but still no joy in getting this problem resolved. So, apologies in advance if I've missed something.

Been experiencing an problem for the past week or so which has seemingly manifested itself out of nowhere, and it only affects Calc. The OO version is 4.1.7, running under Windows 10.

Every morning, I open a spreadsheet and leave it open to update throughout the day. After a few hours, Calc stops responding. I then kill it via task manager, open the file again, and all is well until the issue returns in the same way. Good thing I do frequent saves.

I've tried:

- “Resetting” my user profile by renaming it and letting OpenOffice generate a new one.

- Creating a new spreadsheet file and copying the data over to it.

- Downloading/uninstalling/reinstalling OO.

None of these actions has had any effect whatsoever.

Any additional suggestions I might try? If so, thanks in advance!

My apologies, it's occurring with Writer as well. Guess I just never had a Writer document open long enough for the problem to occur.

The first thing to do is be certain that Windows 10 is fully updated, then restart your computer.

If that does not help, try starting Windows 10 in Safe mode (Google for how); if that gives stability, the problem is caused by some program or driver that runs in Windows Normal Mode.

Yes, I always keep every OS I use updated to latest patch levels, religiously.

I thought about trying safe mode, but the problem there is I can't leave this computer running that way for extended periods waiting for the problem to manifest itself. It's constantly used for many other work tasks, all day long.

Rock and a hard place I guess, it's a bitch to troubleshoot intermittent problems. Thanks for the suggestion though!

The Safe Mode is the diagnostic. If you can do a long edit in that, without the problem, you then have some useful information.
