Need Java to create shortcut for macro

I created a simple macro, now I want to assign a keyboard shortcut. When I follow the instructions I get to where I "select and expand Open Office Macros".
When I select the triangle to show the macros, I get a dialogue that says: "To open 'soffice', you need to intall the legacy Java SE6 runtime", I am running on the latest Java that installs with Open Office 4.1.7 (the only one that will run on a mac with 10.15). I can't install the Java SE 6 runtime because I have the latest version of Java and prior versions won't run on OS10.15.
then Open Office crashes.

I don't use MacOS 10.15 but see if any of Q06/A06 in [Tutorial] Mac FAQ helps. You have to enable Java In OpenOffice after you install it.

Study what Oracle says about this situation.
