I apologise if I have misunderstood. I haven't been following the thread closely.
This is a snapshot of what I see on user.services.openoffice.org/
landing.jpeg (9.63 KiB) Viewed 16160 times
I have downloaded the image as 'forum-logo.png', its dimensions are 300 * 100 and it can be opened in an image viewer.

The problem is not with the landing page logo but with the banner logo on the forum page, the one recently changed.
As I commented before, turning off firefox's colour management fix the problem.

OK. Thank you for your patience. By forum page, I guess you mean the index page. At the bottom right I see this:
ooforum.jpeg (4.57 KiB) Viewed 16131 times
The image is downloaded as 'ooo-main_tm-logo-col-rgb_100px.gif' (100 * 37).

Well, in fact, I made my first screenshot on a Windows XP machine (I was not at home).
@ kingfisher: the download button should be changed soon (imacat replied to my PM), there is another topic for the record.

So far, the banner graphic for the Dutch nl forum has not been replaced, and I can't do it.

I can see the new banner on all forums, including the nl.

I did some simple fix to the background transparency issue.
Also, the .gif and .png is not a problem. Actually the browser still decode by the content of the images, not the suffix. I was only doing a quick hack.
acknak: Do you have SVG source of these images? With the SVG source we can make the transparent background more pretty.

Sorry, there is no svg, only Draw:

Unfortunately, Draw cannot export a graphic with a transparent background.

OK. The banners are now fully transparent. The image files, along with their ODG and SVG source are attached.
It is created from ODG to SVG through PDF, using the procedure suggested by Jan_J, but the text is converted to vector graphic prior to the ODG to PDF conversion, so that the text renders the same whatever Inkscape does.
