How are you trying to open your files? Are you clicking them? Or are you staarting Writer and File > Open ...?

In Windows 10 Click Start-->Settings-->System-->Default Apps-->Set Default Apps. Find Openoffice in the list and click on it then Set this program as default.Molley wrote:Couldn't find anything in Google about setting or checking AOO default programs. I run W10 not W7. I usually double click on a file to open it.

You have AOO set as the default program for 53 of 58 file types, not programs. Are you still having trouble opening some file types when you double-click the files? What is the file name extension of those files?
