I note that, if such links are hyperlinks within the source document they are pasted as Bookmarks, although with full URL to the source document. If they are Hyperlinks to a source outside the source document, they are pasted as Hyperlinks in Writer (again, with full URL). I note this as I have just pasted three paragraphs of reference for a work in progress, which reminders will be removed when I have written the narrative using the information from these reminders.

So you may have to keep an eye out for both Bookmarks and Hyperlinks from your normal Paste method.

Thank you, that helped
I am using AOO 4.1.2, turns out the SHIFT key used in place of the CTRL key as described allows me to batch select all.

The CTRL key held allows to select Bookmarks individually.

BTW (for anyone needing to do this), one file had so many Bookmarks that it well took over 10 minutes to delete them via batch selection described above (could not even see the list changing/shrinking for quite a few minutes, so I was not even sure if it was doing anything, eventually action was noticeable and became faster as it progressed to the end.

REMINDER (as noted elsewhere on this forum) be sure to save the file after a LARGE, time lengthy, Bookmark deletion -----> to do this you will need to make a minor change such enter a space (because AOO 4.1.2 does not count deleting a Bookmark as a change, so that CTRL+S will not actualy save and you may not spot this failure before closing the file only to find bookmarks still there next time) WOW a lot to think about.

BTW 2 Over the years I have tried saving/converting/paste first to blank file, etc. Open Office files as .odt, .rtf, .doc, etc; I just checked a sample of those and YES those types all have the unintended Bookmarks.

BTW 3 I have been pasting what visually appears to be text only (and I also believed was) (was not trying to get media etc. so it fooled me well.

Perhaps the most useful tip of all for Writer, indeed for general OO use, is to remember Ctrl S. Pressing Ctrl S will Save a file. One should get in the habit of pressing Ctrl S after every major change and always before you walk away from the computer. I don't know what the Mac shortcut for this is.
