Excel Cell Comments Are White When Opened in Calc?

(Start off, I'm noobish) I had a problem where my spreadsheet would just open up with no grid lines or anything as normal, randomly. Ended up having to go to Tools > Options > OpenOffice Calc > and this is where I saw "view grid lines" was unchecked. I tried formatting the page and everything before, nothing worked. Stumbled on it, not sure if it will help anyone in the future.
