@Hagard Delest : I keep repeating : the spell checker is dead, kaputt, finito, disconnected, offline, mumified, disabled, not working....I cant find more words for describing spell checker never starts. As the spell checker is stone dead it will not mark any text red ...because it is dead.

I think we have reached the end of this thread. You want it to be a user setting and I have proved it is not a user setting so it is not more I can report here.

Lets close this thread as it has past its purpose.
Edit: As you ask, so it shall be [robleyd, mod]

Have you tried the sample .odt file I uploaded? Does it work on your computer system?

Downloaded the document, opened it in LibreOffice Writer, added a dictionary for Swedish, restarted LibreOffice, pasted some Swedish text and entered a typo and the error was red underlined. So, the spell check works with your document on my system, but apparently not on yours. We all understand your frustration, by the way, I think that most of the people here have banged their heads against a seemingly brick wall at some time.

But you have not shown any proof of that yet.
There is nothing wrong with your template, thus, we would like to see some text selected and how the spell check tags it on your machine.

In all your screenshots, either the text is not underlined but that makes sense since there does not seem to be any wrong spelling, or the spell check dialog is empty because there is no text at all in the document (so it seems since we don't see what is behind the dialog).

We are not saying it is a user issue. It might be a corner case linked to your OS. But to confirm that, we need some evidence.
