Trying to access external Postgresql database with ODBC/JDBC/SDBC reports connection refused by server. On the server, no connect activity appears on the database log. The firewall allows connections from the client machine and was verified by creating entries in the database log by connecting with a web browser from the client machine on port 5432. The database log showed attempts to connect from the client machine. This is across a DSL connection with the server on a static IP.
It appears that packets from Open Office never leave the client machine. Using tcpdump on the server shows no packets on port 5432 when trying to initiate a connection from the client with one of the data access methods. I have Open Office 2.3.0 on Linux on the servers local network and it is working great.
Any helpful tips/clues on solving this mystery would be greatly appreciated!
