Alternative to MS Outlook

Post by aredev »

Hello Everyone,

Till now I was using MS Office XP Pro on my desktop with Windows XP Pro as OS. Yesterday I tried to install it on my laptop having Vista Home Premium. Due to certain licensing issues it didn't work. I have a huge conatct list in MS Outlook with customised mailing solution. Is there any equally efficient alternative solution to MS outlook available in OpenOffice that can work on Vista laptop? If yes, then what is it? If no, what other best low cost/free solution is possible? Please suggest.

Thanks & regards,

Don't forget to search before posting, this question is very frequent: Alternative to MS Outlook (for example).

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

You're not going to find a exact drop-in replacement.

However, if you do this, you'll get close to having what you have in Outlook.

On the XP machine, install Thunderbird and let it import everything from Outlook.
Backup Thunderbird on the XP machine.
Install Thunderbird on the Vista machine and then restore the backup from the XP machine.

If you want to have a calender as well, install the Lightning plug-in to Thunderbird.
