Header like Microsoft Word

Post by rhythmnation2004 »

Is there anyway to create a header and footer like those on Microsoft Word, where you simply put them on the top and bottom of the page, and they stay there and repeat on all other pages?

Are you asking how to add a header or footer, or are you simply unhappy with the way it's done in Writer?

It seems to me he/she simply does not know how to do it.

The easiest way is Insert > Header or Footer. Headers and Footers are properties of a page style and will continue until you change the page style.

Have a look at that thread, especially the last post: [Tutorial] Page numbering.

See also here: Creating headers and footers. You can access the online guide from the link at top of the Writer forum page.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' in your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

Whaaat? Ha! I never even knew that was there. I always use Format > Page, which is a few more clicks but has the advantage that you can make other changes to the page style at the same time.
Thanks JV!

Been there, done that! ;)

If you tried it in a simple document you would only see the Default page style but as you add page styles they are also displayed and an All option is added. Adding a header were one already exists deletes it after a warning.
