[Solved] Forum in Spanish

Postby Neggo » Sun Jan 20, 2008 11:06 pm

Thank you very much for this forum, I has discover it just now.

I only have a big problem, I’m from Spain and I would like to know if is planed to add another language in the next future.

In office suites, I’m interested mainly in Desktop DB, so I’m currently working in Access 2003 but learning and following Base evolution, and when I will be ready I will change to Access to Base.

I show in this feedback place a very good and successful forum from Spain that I hope can show some ideas: http://www.mvp-access.com/foro/

So only two questions. From when works this forum?

Is planed to introduce a Spanish option in the next future?

Thanks a lot.

The idea has been raised here: Other languages forums.

But it can work only if there is a team ready to maintain its language area.

Hello Neggo,

Personally I would love to see a Spanish forum on the site. It would require a few people to volunteer to work on it. Someone would have to act as the forum administrator - translating the forum Titles into Spanish for instance and helping deal with the inevitable problems that come up from time to time with folks that either can't get registered, or more often that are trying to log on with an account from another web site ( http://www.openoffice.org for instance ).

Also I would expect at least 2 other people needed to act as moderators for the site.

Of course all of this is predicated on the idea that there is a large enough Spanish speaking user base for OpenOffice.org to utilize the forum - which I believe there probably is given what I hear from a few of the folks in the openoffie.org mailing lists.

As for actually setting up the software that can be done for you, the phpBB package used here has a couple of Spanish language packs available. So basically it could be done in a rather short order, all that would be needed is some interest. So - would you be willing to be one of those people to help open one up?

Edit: Also - you might be interested to know that a new web forum has just come on-line for Portuguese

It seems to be drawing users right off.

By way of keeping everyone in the loop here.

Neggo has contacted the administrators to further pursue this possibility. As part of following up the Spanish Native Language co-lead has been copied on the email to explore any wider interest.

Any other Spanish speaking forum members that would be interested in and willing to help support a Spanish Community Forum please contact the administrators by posting to this thread or sending a private message to any of us.

Thanks much
