Try this:

-Select all the text of your document (Edit menu, Select All)
-Select a section of your text that is written in one (and only one) language
-Go to the Format menu and choose Character....
-Click on the Font tab
-Make sure the language drop-down is set for the correct language. (if you have CTL enabled, you will have two, one for Western text and one for CTL).
-Make sure that language has a checkmark by it.

If the language is already set correctly, and there is a checkmark by it, please post back with the following information:

-The language you want to spellcheck in
-The settings in Tools>Language Settings>Languages
-Whether or not the language you have selected has a checkmark by it in the dropdown list.

Well, in fact, I don't like that way very much because it's a direct formatting and it will fix only the current document (and it won't be that robust).

Have a look at that thread : [Tutorial] Spell check and Language configuration.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' in your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

I wasn't suggesting checking the Format>Character settings as a final solution to the problem. I was asking the original poster to check this as a trouble shooting measure. I am suspiscious that the language for the text is set incorrectly. Sometimes this can happen even if the document language is set correctly under Tools>Options. For example, if the document in question is in .doc format, or if text has been pasted in from another source (as you mention in the tutorial you suggested).

Sorry, I missed that!
But if there are several languages set for different paragraphs, the field will be blank. And the user will be tempted to set the language here.

True enough. I should have thought of that. I've gone back and edited my post to reflect that possibility. Thanks for catching it!
