[Solved] Print Dialog: properties greyed out (OSX 10.5.6)
[Solved] Print Dialog: properties greyed out (OSX 10.5.6)
Hello out there,
I have some issues with OOO 3.0.0 on my Mac running OSX 10.5.6:
In the printer dialog, the properties button is greyed out. While I still can print with default settings in Calc and Write, Draw fails completely to print an A4 size drawing on A4 paper.
The application (Draw) obviously seems to think that the drawing does not fit on the printer's paper while it is the same size than the drawing. Draw offers to either scale, distribute or crop the drawing.
It seems that somehow OOO is not able to communicate with the printer driver.
On all other applications I can see and change the printer properties very well.
I've already reinstalled the printer driver (it's an HP c5180 connected over the Ethernet), my OOO is a German version (OSX is German as well)
Does anyone have an idea how to get this fixed?
Thanks a lot!!
Schnick

Where are you trying to change settings? In File/Printer settings 'Properties' is grayed out. But:
Clicking File/print opens a window that give access to all printer settings. (I'm using a Canon printer, but I believe it is the same for all printers)

Unfortunately both dialogs ( file - printer settings and file - print) show a greyed out Properties button...

Could you post a screenshot of the print window? I don't have a properties button on the file/print window with my Canon printer. I don't recall one on a friend's Mac with his HP multifunction printer.Schnick wrote:Unfortunately both dialogs ( file - printer settings and file - print) show a greyed out Properties button...

Re: Print Dialog error - Prn properties greyed out (OSX 10.5.6)
Here it comes.
If the "Eigenschaften" (German for properties) would not be greyed out, one could define paramters like page size, print quality, color modes etc.
Since this is the only print dialog i know on OSX, I'm a bit surprised that this is seemingly not standard??

Did you install the whole software package? HP's Canada site gave this following info.
HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers — Mac OS X v10.3.9, v10.4 and v10.5 — 01-2008 — Version 9.7.1 — 204.56M
HP Canada support has the following page on using your printer.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docu ... ct=1153481
Here are what the Page Setup Window and the Print dialog box should look like:
NOTE: OO.o uses its own dialogue for its "Printers Settings" window

I just remembered the cause of your problem
On your menubar go to OpenOffice.org/Preferences.
Then under OpenOffice.org/General/Print dialogs uncheck 'Use OpenOffice.org dialogs"

Re: [Solved] Print Dialog: properties greyed out (OSX 10.5.6)
Hi,
I have the same problem; wanting to print brochures and therefore need to switch to landscape in the printer properties. I tried the proposed solution, but no luck with me, openoffice dialogs was unchecked already. I tried to download the latest driver for my brother HL-2040, but the brother site said the latest driver is bundled with my OSX 10.5.6
Does anyone have other suggestions?
(Can I access the printer properties outside OO? I seem not to be able to find them anywhere)
Thanks a lot,
Gertjan

Hey Thanks a lot. I was bugged by the same issue with OO3. I had the print dialogue boxes with NeoOffice.
